Wide Bay Water beats Queensland Water Commission and Sydney Water for National Savewater Award
Over the weekend at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, Hervey Bay based, water business, Wide Bay Water Corporation won a National Savewater Award for its innovative water recycling work.

Acting CEO, David Wiskar said that it was good to show the “big boys” of the Australian Water Industry the way.

“For the water industry, this award is like winning a gold medal in the Olympics.”

Sweet Success: Corporate approach pays dividends
Pankaj ‘Pank’ Mistry loves his work. An engineer by trade, Pank heads up a team of people who are national experts in water leakage detection. This is big news.

The process of detecting, pin pointing and remedying leaks, both big and small, in an underground pipeline or network, sounds simple enough in theory. In practice, Pank explains that:

“Until quite recently, water companies regarded water loss, even on a large scale, as inevitable. The cost of finding leaks, and fixing broken pipes, was seen to outweigh the benefits of allowing water to leak right out of the system. A lack of specialist equipment and precision, as well as high labour costs generally added up to a decision not to dig the pipes up and find out what was wrong.”
