Scope of works

The scope of work for this type of project would be as follows:

  • Undertake a desktop study to determine the current levels of leakage, water losses and system pressure in the water supply distribution network.
  • Conduct a water balance and grade the distribution system on the International Leakage Index.
  • Undertake field measurements – pressure and flows where necessary
  • Analyse field data to make assessment with respect to:
  • Current levels of leakage
  • Scope for pressure management
  • Provide a detailed program for future sectorisation (establishment of district meter areas and/or pressure zones) of the network.
  • Make recommendations on installation of flow meters, pressure reducing valves if sectors are to be established
  • Training of water staff in water demand management techniques and analysis.
